A full server – client application

The server requires Microsoft SQL Server to handle data. No complex infrastructure needed to use it. The client is self-supporting and is license free.

If you are not using Microsoft Outlook®, use SMTP or POP3 to communicate. You have to be connected to send and receive e-mails, but you do not lose any other benefit.
